Tutorial for "Wallow, Wallow"

Ok, I have never written a tut before but here goes.

Wallow was an image that was made from more than one render with most of the snazzy effects performed in Photoshop.

1.The first render was from a previous posting called "Guard". In Bryce I changed the FOV to 90 for a slightly different angle then rendered. This was the render with no post work.

2. On to Photoshop or any other 2D graphics editor that supports layers. I duped the image and Free-Transformed it, flipping it horizontally. I then resized the canvas (wider), to accommodate the second image. I then moved both images until they seamlessly fit. I merged the layers & changed the blue levels a tad. This is what I had then.

3. Now I just copied the layer again, free-transformed- flipping it vertically this time. Re-sized the canvas again and matched the seams. The size is at 24" X 16" now.

4. I put the background away and went back to Bryce with a short pit-stop in Poser to pose the alien critter differently. In Bryce I opened up the newly posed alien and did some basic renders with a black background. These are the two I used.

5. Back to Photoshop. After extracting both critters & pasting them to their own layers I began putting together the centerpiece. Again, free-transform was used heavily. Copy the layer, flip it, move it and just see what becomes of it. With Photoshop you have full control by using layer masks to blend them together. I had come up with this by then.

6. I cannot stress enough that you can use & re-use parts over and over again if placed in an eye-pleasing manner. Dupe, flip, move, merge the layer, resize...that's all I did other than some clean-up with a layer mask. I then went back to Bryce and rendered some tubes that I had used on the original background.

7. Cut out in Photoshop and placed where I thought they were needed, including the border effect.

8. Add the background and signature & viola...a finished creepy composite to make mother proud ;)

I'll "snazz" this page up more on a later date, heh, heh.
