The Lake incident
While kayaking
on Nowhere Lake last weekend a strange creature surfaced not fifteen feet in
front of me. I had just pulled out my digital camera from the waterproof case
that rested on the deck of the kayak and was in the process of framing the shot
when it happened…
I snapped off three quick shots before one of its pale green eyes locked onto
me. I held my breath as the monster swung its massive body towards my direction.
I shoved the camera back into the case and grabbed my paddle ready to backstroke
for all I was worth.
It then did a rather strange thing, two of the three mandibles that jutted out
from its head opened apart and the third middle one rose higher out of the
water. A small wet slit underneath this appendage opened and incredibly, it
spoke.
“No worry mate, you’re not the legal size limit anyway”
With that said it submerged in a swirling froth of water and bubbles leaving me
in my silent stupor…
